SY2001

PLL frequency synthesizer (preliminary info)

Description

Answering to the new challenge for ultralow-phase noise master oscillators needed in the next generation GNSS applications like radioccultation, reflective-GNSS and GEO-GNSS, Saphyrion is developing a wholly new PLL frequency synthesizer for L-band applications. The key solution deployed for this task could be easily extended to other frequency ranges. The large fan-out of SY2001 makes very easy the management of several slaved GNSS receivers sharing a common, high stability clock, with significant advantages in the domain of array antenna receivers and GNSS attitude determination.

The SY2001 is under development; however, test boards containing the same chip (not space-qualified, but functionally equivalent) can be purchased by early adopters for characterization and prototyping. Please send an inquiry through the Contacts page.

Noise performance

The definitive improvement in noise performance guaranteed by SY2001 is clearly shown in the following figure, where the noise of the standard RF oscillator contained in SY1007 (in red) is compared to a typical requirement of radio-occultation receivers (in black) ant to the phase noise of  new SY2001 PLL synthesizer (in blue):
